ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Born to a Belgian fashion designer & model mother and a French film director & pianist father. Fashion Designer and Singer songwriter Maïa Gysens grew up embracing a nomadic lifestyle across Europe and America. Her rich cultural background shaped her artistry from an early age.
In France she began her formal education in textile design in 2000, later moving to London to master the craft of dressmaking where she discovered the poetic relationship between the female form and the art of draping fabric. Her talent caught the attention of the fashion world, leading her to work alongside the iconic Alexander McQueen.
2010 Maïa launched her first swimwear collection in Los Angeles, which featured one-of-a-kind pieces that celebrated individuality. After seven successful years, she made the conscious decision to create another brand, recognising what was no longer aligned with her evolving purpose.
During the pandemic in 2020, Maïa found herself in the jungle of Tulum, Mexico, where the concept of UNITY was born.
Inspired by her minimalist lifestyle she created a collection locally, embracing the notion of slow fashion and sustainability by avoiding overstock. This way every item found its owner organically, complimenting each unique personality .
Through UNITY, Maïa promotes the values of authenticity and intentionality and in 2024 she launches a musical project on the same name.

ABOUT THE TEAM
UNITY is more than just a brand; it evolves into a symbol of connection, empowerment and community.
The production of the Unity Pieces is influenced by the nomadic lifestyle of Founder Maïa Gysens, in every country she creates a temporary atelier working with the local community to source fabrics as well as collaborates with skilled seamstresses to craft unique pieces for the ever evolving UNITY Brand. These temporary Teams become a fertile ground for exchange and individual growth _ the UNITeam.
